Funny gifts for colleagues: cards, notebooks or prints?
Choose a funny colleague gift for a leaving do, birthday or Secret Santa, with practical advice on humour, budget and the right MOP format.
By Ministry of Posters · Updated

The best colleague gift says “I know your sense of humour” rather than “this was available near the till”. Start with the person, then choose a format that suits the occasion. Approval by committee is optional.
Choose a joke they will enjoy
Think about the jokes you already share. Dry office humour can work well for someone who enjoys it; it is less useful when the wording could sound like a criticism of their work. For a manager, a new colleague or a public leaving presentation, choose something you would be comfortable reading to the room.
Browse Managed Expectations for office-inspired designs. If their interests matter more than their job, look at the food and kitchen department or pet-inspired designs instead.
Match the format to the occasion
- A greeting card: a compact choice for a birthday, leaving message or an addition to a group gift. MOP cards are blank inside, so the wording is yours.
- A notebook: useful when you want something they can use at a desk without choosing their decor.
- A poster: good when you know their taste and they can choose a frame.
- A framed print: consider this when you know they want wall art and have a suitable place for it.
The shop's format filter lets you compare cards, notebooks, posters and framed prints. Product prices and available options are shown on the current listing.
Check the details that matter
MOP notebooks have Wire-O binding and 60 sheets, giving 120 pages of 90gsm paper. Cards use 330gsm Fedrigoni Symbol gloss stock with UV varnish and include an envelope. Each product's materials panel provides the relevant details.
For wall art, check the chosen size rather than relying on the display image. If you do not know the recipient's wall space, ask discreetly or choose a format that does not need hanging.
Buying to a budget or a deadline
For a Secret Santa limit, check the selected product price and delivery costs before committing. “From” prices can refer to the smallest or least expensive option, so confirm the actual variant in your basket.
If the gift needs to arrive for a particular date, check the current delivery information and contact us before ordering if timing is uncertain. Do not assume every format has the same turnaround.
Finish with a personal message
A short note explaining the shared joke often does more than elaborate wrapping. For a leaving gift, add a specific memory or a straightforward good wish. The Ministry supplies the design. The affection remains your department.
